"it's for the best"

I have told this line to numerous women after I tell them their babies heart has stopped beating. It's because it stopped for a reason - usually a reason that would not have sustained life had it made it to term.

A sick child/baby/fetus (however you wish to think of it as) passing on before it can know pain is indeed for the best.
