Red face Normal Feeding Amounts?

I had a 7 lb. 4 oz baby girl in April. At first, I went forth with breast feeding, but right away she became jaundiced so they wanted me to supplement, which caused some issues for me and so on, so about 4 weeks after I gave birth I had to quit breast feeding due to lack of milk production. I have chosen the formula Similac Advanced with Iron. She really likes that choice. I've always fed her on a 3-4 hour feeding schedule. At 2 weeks, she was above her birth weight. She's always been quite a fierce eater. Really hungry all the time.

She's 4 months old right now, and she weighs almost 20 lbs. At 2 months, the pediatrician had me on a 6 oz every 3-4 hour feeding schedule. amd she resumed that schedule until she was 3 1/2 months old. At 3 1/2 months old, he had me bump her up to 8 ozs every 3-4 hours, and also give her cereal or stage 1 baby foods a few times a day since she has such a fierce appetite.

I never overfeed my child. I always feed her on schedule and never before, but she's so big for her age, so I was wondering if the amounts he's scheduled me on seem the normal range, so if anyone could tell me what amounts their child was on at 4 months, that'd be great.

My son will be 5 months on September 3, and right now I've been feeding him about 4-6 oz every 2-3 hours, and if he's still hungry, I'll feed him another oz or two. As of this past Monday, he weighs 18 lbs 4 oz.

Hope that helped!

Also, try not to start any solids until the baby is AT LEAST 5 months old. Your baby is already gaining so well on the formula. There is no need to start on anything else. Right now, my son just started on rice cereal, and that's all he's getting until he's about 6 months old.

Clues to let you know your baby is ready for solids:
  • he is about six months old
  • he can sit up without any support
  • he continues to be hungry despite more frequent nursing which is unrelated to illness or teething
  • he has lost the tongue-thrusting reflex and does not push solids out of his mouth
  • he can pick up things with his finger and thumb (pincer grasp)

Dont panic, every baby is different! My third was 19lbs at 4 months old and ended up being just 25 lbs at a year so your baby will probably slow down as he/she becomes mobile and stuff. I never had my kids on a feeding schedule, I breast fed on demand. So Im sure your doing just fine!

Each child is different, you have to use your instints as well. The feeding timelines/amounts are guidelines, it varies to the child. Unless your pediatrician is concerned about the weight, I wouldn't be. My daughter was alot heavier than most, and when she began crawling she really slimmed down.
