I've seen it, it's been going around recently on FB - let me see if I can find it.

6 months!? That's crazy...most people I know are breastfeeding past 6 months, or planning to.
Like I said, people are weird.

That sounds really interesting.... it's so true, and so contradicting. We don't flinch when it comes to sexuality or showing all you've got...but when it comes to nursing - a natural & beautiful thing - people get all creeped out. Perhaps it's because our culture has become too sexualized, where when people see a baby suckling on a boob there is some correlation to sex in people's minds - since that's what boobs have been made out to be in media.

Re: props to a new mom in wal mart
What in the hell?! I had no idea that bf'ing in public would be an issue. That's insane, I can't imagine why anyone would be offended by that.
Furthermore I wouldn't eat in a bathroom why would I make my baby eat in a bathroom. I dare some jackass to tell me to take my baby to the bathroom to eat that's just disgusting.
I'm gonna do it whenever and whereever if Gabes hungry if someone wants to have me removed then they can call the cops b/c I don't see how you can be charged w/ anything as long as you're covered up.
I'm glad the lady in Wal-Mart inspired you. I've never thought twice about someone feeding a baby in public and I find it insulting that anyone would. As if it's any of thier business anyway.

Re: props to a new mom in wal mart
Soooo I just called DH to see what his opinion is and he thinks it's weird to bf in public...WTH?! And then he can't even formulate a valid reason why it's weird/inappropriate other than it makes people uncomfortable and he told me that we would always need to plan ahead so that I didn't have to bf in public and I'm just like ya ok.....people are crazy apparently even my own husband...

Re: props to a new mom in wal mart
He'll come around. My husband used to feel weird about it too. A while back we went out to dinner and Avi insisted on hanging on me the whole time, and I asked him if it was still weird for him. "Nah, I'm just happy to get a meal in peace and quiet for once!" He's actually gotten really good about it- and gone to bat for me a time or two too!
This whole thread reminded me of this cartoon-- I think I posted it on here once, but it's awesome so I'm doing it again.
