Default Babyfood????

We were wondering if it's healthier to make our own babyfood in a food processor?

Baby food seems like a rip-off.Can the baby eat what we eat when she's ready? We eat pretty healthy. No junk, don't eat prepared meals, usually cook from scratch. Not a lot of spices.

I think she would rather eat what we eat than some of those nasty flavors Gerber comes up with.(Peas & Bannanas YUCK)

I don't know if this is really a flavor but you know what I mean if you've looked at some of the flavors.

Has anyone made their own babyfood and what were your babies favorites?

Thank You!

Have A Great Day!!!!!!!!!!

well i made applesauce once and my baby cousin loved it. So i'm sure your own cooking would taste better than that bottled crap. much healthier too!

Our kids never liked baby food. We tried almost every flavor and the girls reacted to them just as if I tried to put them on my wife's plate for dinner. As long as you are eating healthy, and you child is able to take whatever you are eating, I think it doesnt matter that they skip over the processed baby food part of their lives.

I've used both. When I made my own I just used a food processor and put it into ice cube trays and froze it. Then put it into bags and took out as much as they would eat and microwaved it. Very convenient thet way! My kids favorites were always sweet potatos, and bananas(not mixed).

You certainly *don't* have to use manufactured so-called "baby foods". You don't even to make your own. Instead, you can just wait until baby is old enough for solids, then you can give small pieces of food that don't need to be prepared more than 10 seconds before you give it to the baby!

How old is the baby? My kids ate what we ate by about 6 months old.

It is probably better for the baby to make your own baby food but sad to say, i will buy the canned ones when my baby gets to that stage. To me, it is just too much work. I have a 8 yr old daughter and 3 month old son. Kudos to you for making your baby healthier in a not so healthy world

Yes I made lots of home-made food for my son (now 2). It was actually easier and much cheaper than buying the convenience jars, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't use them as well! My son really enjoyed pureed veg, especially sweet potatoes mixed with broccoli and carrots and lasagne which I make with whatever minced meat I have to hand, lots of veg chopped up really small and tomatoes, all covered with cheese sauce. This is still his favourite now though thankfully it no longer needs to be pureed!

I made all of my daughters food, it's easier than you think. Visit wholesomebabyfoods.com & get the book Super Baby Foods (something like that). That will give you the instructions from beginning to end. We started @ 5 months w/ sweet potato, banana and avacado, went down the line to the asparagus & broccoli @ 11 months. She eats all her veggies now, it's really worth the time.

Good Luck!
