Default Question for breastfeeding moms..and close contact when I am sick.?

I have just over the past 24 hours started to feel so horrible. I have a sore throat and I have been sneezing and stuffy all night. It is late so I can't call the doctor's office to ask so I just need some opinions...is it safe to be in close contact with my baby or should I just pump my milk and have my husband feed him? I don't think I have anything serious, maybe just a cold, but I don't know how well he would be able to fight off a simple cold...he is just a little over 7 weeks old. Thanks for any advice on what you may have done in this situation!

Your baby is getting antibodies from your breastmilk. It is fine to breastfeed while you're sick, but you may want to be extra dilegent in washing your hands. I went through the same thing and my daughter never got sick. Breast fed babies can fight off illness really well!

I would pump your breast milk and let your husband feed him and get to your doctor and see what he says. Your baby is young and they can get illnesses very easily. You are right to ask a question like this. That is what I would do.

Just keep nursing him. You are passing the antibodies that your body is making onto your baby. If he gets the cold, just keep nursing him. You'll both get through it.

You'll be fine. You're passing antiboties on to your child and there's a HUGE chance that he won't even get sick! I had the same fear as I was watching a cold, but my daughter never even caught it.
