...but just in case that does not? work out I bought bottles. I bought 1 package of avent bottles and 1 package of playtex bottles because if I have to go to bottles I don't want the babies sharing the same bottle or getting them mixed up in whos is whos. Did I do the right thing in buying 2 different brands of bottles so 1 baby can be on avent bottles and the on playtex bottles so we will never get mixed up???? Twin mommies please give me some advice on what YOU did or are doing???? Thank you

I would use the same brand, only different colors! I wish you well on trying to breastfeed! For the first few days-weeks, try to breastfeed exclusively. The nurses at the hospital can give you lots of help!!! Tell them no pacifiers, no bottles as this can cause nipple confusion with the babies. Sometimes, once they try a bottle, they won't go back to breast - or it will be a battle for you. The babies are learning to breastfeed, just as you will be - try not to confuse them until they have it down. The biggest issue I had was babies not latching on properly - their mouth has to be open wide before putting them on, otherwise you will be prone to cracked nipples (hurts really bad and takes 1-2 weeks to heal all the way, plus you have to keep nursing, so it feels like a staple gun when they latch on!). Use 100% Lanolin as much as possble - good stuff!
If you can't breastfeed both, try alternating when they're 2 weeks old. Bottle every other feeding. To me, I thought breastfeeding was super convenient. I would have hated making bottles up in addition to baths, diapers, changes, naps, etc...

I have 2 year old twin boys - William & Tobias and i sucessfully breast feed them for about 4 months.
I am not going to lie, it takes a hell of a lot out of you. But I could never imagined not doing it now. (I wish i could put them back)
I was so scared of breast feeding i stocked up on bottles as well. But when i first put them to my breast i knew i could do it. I gave up and cried my eyes out!! I became ill and couldn't feed anymore. But i feel i gave them the best start!!
i am not that sure about bottle, I used plain ones, i got 6 for about$10- and since we was having to buy everything i couldn't afford anyhing else. But they took to the bottles really well.
A little bit of advice though, if your are going to use a pasifier, get a large one. Not one for a 12 month old, but the ones with a larger ball? on them. the ones that have the tiny balls? on them suck. When you put them on your breast they are used to scking on something small. And it really hurts your nipple!!

I guess I don't see the point. You wash bottles in between, don't you? Twins aren't that complicated (know plenty of people with twins and I guarantee triplets are more complicated). You might join Mothers of Twins groups for some really practical tips for twins as well as linking up with moms who have breastfed their twins. Great support system, although it mostly focuses on the first 7 years.
