I don't know, I think that is pretty creepy also. I just don't see WHY someone would do that if not with their own child. I know if my sister was pacified my child like that, I would be a little miffed. Can we say"Hand that rocks the Cradle". If I saw someone else doing it, I'd mind my own business if its okay with the mom, and its for "pacifying" the baby, but I'd be creeped out. There no way I'd ever let my 14 year old daughter pacify a child like that either. If they aren't a mom, then its too early for them to start MAJOR parenting practices, such as sex and breastfeeding.

If the mom is around, no, it is not normal. If she was babysitting and he was crying it could be the only thing that would help. A baby will not always try to feed from another woman's breast because it doesn't have their mom's scent.

If the baby needed comfort and is breastfed, it might have been the only way for her to comfort the baby. If the baby is not breastfed, then your neice might have been picking up on her maternal instincts. Is this your baby? Don't scold her for this behavior, she might get a complex and grow up to think this behavior is wrong. You just need to sit her down and let her know that you can not feed a baby without actually getting pregnant so that your breast will produce the needed milk. I would also let her know that feeding someone elses baby is not known as "ok".

I think she is probably doing it out of curiousity. I don't think any harm is done, but I would tell the baby's mother and explain to your niece that it is inappropriate.

I think that it would be fine if the parents think its ok I personaly woudnt want anyone else letting my daughter suck on them but thats just me.

it doees seem wierd...i guess i could see if she was sitting the baby, maybe not given true instructions, knows mom feeds baby like that...crap could be she has no idea what it means(the milk/breastfeed) thing...just that when baby cries his mom does it? i think i'd be shocked if my sister tried to breastfeed my child(she's 13, and knows what it is)...but i wouldnt dare browbeat her for it.....just reiterate what she knows already.....but then again ask yourself(and yes this IS age-difference), but do any of us freak out when our younger daughters(i dont have one, but i mean 3-8/9 yrs old) walk around holding a baby doll to their breast? of course not...they are curious, and since they see mom/relatives do it, it's ok to them, in their little world their "baby" is crying, feed him lol......

i'd talk to HER first, IF this is a "hand that rocks the cradle" possibility, and she does not stop, esp does it behind others backs, it could be the start of severe issues...

don't beat me for saying this, but if she were a little older, the wrong person would actually call that indecency with a child, by a child.....in saying that, i mean that your "girl" is fully aware of the fact that the childs mother is the ONLY ONE who should b/f, and that what she is doing is wrong but continues nonetheless
