Well, you are definitely a step ahead of me. I'm 4 months along and my husband and I still can't agree on baby names! I too am a first time mom and may I suggest some reading material I've picked up and really liked:
1. The Babycenter Guide to pregnancy and Birth (a week-by-week guide) -has 4 authors-I picked this up at a Borders Bookstore
2. Pregnancy Dos & Don'ts (The smart women's A-Z pocket companion for a safe and sound pregnancy) -Elisabeth Aron, M.D.-Also picked up at Borders and it lets you know what you shouldn't and should consume during pregnancy
Congrats!

Well, I did have some nights in my first trimester when I couldn't sleep very well because of hip pain. I have either hugged a pillow or put one between my legs. I also started sleeping with two pillows and that helps as well. Once I hit my second trimester I've been napping less and sleeping really well...if you're napping now due to fatigue, that can also make it hard to sleep at night. I do plan on investing in a full body pregnancy pillow-made by Leachco-that can contour to your body any which way you'd like. They recommend you sleep on either side, not your back or stomach. This applies more when your uterus grows out of your pelvis and the baby gets larger...you have better blood circulation on the left side. Well, unfortunately, you have a bit of a wait ahead of you for finding out the gender if you're only a month now. They can do it as early as 16 weeks but most places won't do it until 20-22 weeks. My next ultrasound will be at the beginning of march (I'll be 21 weeks then) but we're not finding out the gender. I'm still excited though because we'll get to see the baby more developed than he/she was when I had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks. I'm due July 13, 08. Have fun with your ever changing body, be sure to eat well and lather on that Cocoa Butter stretch mark cream on your tummy!

Well, every doctor is different...they all have their standard way of doing things. Most doctors won't do it at 16 weeks because even though those parts are already formed by then, it's not as easy to accurately say one way or another unless you wait until the baby is bigger. I'm more excited for the actual birth to find out then. Both my husband and I thought there was no point for us to find out. I've already bought clothing and bedding...it's not as hard to decorate a nursery as some people may think when you don't know the gender.
