Default Confirmation Emails

I vote that when you sign up to this forum, women/people must have their screen names confirmed through email after verifying they are not bots and writing an introductory paragraph in a "Why you chose this forum" (Not word for word, but perhaps a few questions to answer to clear things up) type section. [Are you TTC or Pregnant? Are you willing to abide by forum rules and reg's? Are you a nurse or other health care provider wishing to aid women in need? Etc.)

A) Weeds out a LOT/most of the bots
B) Requiring a short introduction would help keep the community tighter and keep the "kiddies" out, so to speak. Some people will obviously cause trouble, despite checking out ok in the original introduction, but it will at least cut down on bot and obvious troll problems. You can tell a lot about someone or their intentions from the stuff they write.

Certain mods who elected for the duty would have the confirmation emails sent to their inbox to confirm for said user. If a users email is something like becky4sex@spambot.com then we obviously know who we're denying. If the screen name is something like 234234jijsdoa20 then again, deny. Those people will never gain access or confirmation. We wouldn't have to make the forums private unless signed, just prevent a lot of the traffic that would reach us FROM reaching us.

Now, I realize, because most of you are mods, you do not have admin power and would not be able to change this anyways. However, if this or something similar to this could come into effect, I think it would greatly help the community of women here who genuinely interested in keeping this place safe and clean.

Of course, this is just a suggestion, and if it too much work for anyone I am totally willing to accept it's a bad idea. I just feel as though open enrollment, so to speak, is sometimes bad news.

I think thats a great idea. May take a lil time to set up (not sure how it all works) but would be totally worth it in the long run.

I generally ban most accounts as they are registering. I can see their profile info while they are signing up, and if its a man from Thailand who has a web page with a link to lesbian porn or sell gold for cash- he gets banned before he can do anything. None of you guys even know he was on here for a second.

I also monitor traffic on this forum and watch what everyone is doing. If I see an unfamiliar name I investigate their activity. I have a million and one ways to spot a spammer on this site- there are plenty of "tells." I won't get into it- just be assured that we got the spam thing under control. I am getting quite used to the job- I don't even think twice about it.

Spam is easy to manage this way- trolls of course are not. I suspect that a troll would take the time to answer the questions to get on the site. They are just killing time anyways for their own kicks. Many come up with legitimate names and sound nice at first to test the waters. So its up to you guys to help us by reporting this.

Reporting is great for us when we are away from the site or offline. It helps us to take care of something we missed. Please keep up with the reporting! It does really help! Last night was tough for immediate action because it was the middle of the night- but luckily two of us were online- Nicholerh and Queen of Hearts.

I think its a good idea- but its something we do anyways- we can definitely spot the spammers! Thanks though!
