so I'm a bit confused maybe some of you can help me out..I think my OB is on drugs..haha I went and seen my ob 4 weeks ago when Iwas 13 weeks and he asked me about the down syndrome testing and I agreed to do it..so he gave me two pieces of paper and said go get blood done today then when you come back to see me in 4 weeks when your 17 weeks along bring the second piece of paper and get the second blood test done...so I go see him yesturday which was exactly 4 weeks and he says to me oh your down syndrome testing came back negitive which was great but I said I thought I had to get the second test done today...he was confused didnt remeber giving me the second piece of paper, so he leaves the room to try and figure it out comes back and says oh well i guess by your last ultrasound your not 17 weeks your 19 weeks...is that even possible? the first day of my last period was june 11th????

Sounds weird. I has my Downs Syndrome test at the ultrasound place all at once. They did the ultrasound and then took the blood and sent the results altogether.

I am 18 weeks 4 days, and my first day of my last period was May 31

I don't think it's possible your 19 weeks if your last period was june 11th.
Mine was June 1st & by going by that date it's 18 weeks & 2 days today, And an ultrasound yesterday confirmed it is in fact 18 weeks & 2 days.

When I had the blood test, it was only one test and my Dr used it to help her determine how far along I was/am.
Maybe your Dr just doesnt have the best people skills and his hesitation comes off as him not knowing what is going on.
Personally I don't like Dr.s, but I'm trying to trust that mine knows what tests to run and how to read them.

Sometimes dates don't match the last period perfectly. That's okay. Doesn't mean anything is wrong, just means that occasionally someone needs to be redated. As for the down syndrome test, there are a few out there. Some involve only one blood test, some involve two (and an ultrasound at around 12 weeks). If you got the 2+ultrasound, then yes a 2nd blood draw is required to finish the test. However if at your ultrasound they found you to be further than what they thought, this may have affected the type of DS testing they did. Without seeing your chart it's hard to know

Okay, maybe I need to do more research on the subject. Everything I read says the test for down syndrome wasn't offered until your 16th week (which was when my doctor asked me if I wanted it).
You should be about 17 weeks. My LMP was June 5th and I am 17 weeks 6 days.
