Default Legs are going numb

Hey,

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone elese. Yesterday morning I did 60 minutes of pregnancy yoga. It was mostly stretching and kegals, no big deal.

Then I went to work where I sit all day on my bum till 5 pm. I left work and went grocery shopping.

At the store I started to have a sharp pain in my buttocks then my left left leg just kept giving out on me. I was very close to collapsing like 25 times at the store. It scared me so bad I started to cry!

I had a similar situation when I was 5. I went for the DTP vacination and it paralized me for a few days till the drug was out of my system.

The scenario is exactly the same as it was back then. Sharp pain starting in my butt cheek, numbness down my leg, leg gives out, loss of balance. When I was 5 I remeber it happened right after I got home from getting the shot. I was walking down the hall when the pain hit and my legs went numb, I remember trying to grab the wall and falling down paralized.

My question is, could it be the yoga that did this? Or could it be something pregnancy related or something else?

Any suggestions?

Sounds like sciatica. Its the nerve that runs from your pelvis, down your butt and down your leg. I have the same thing. I see a chiropractor for it to relieve the pain and numbness. He told me that it is brought on by pregnancy because there is more elastic in our joints and cartilage to prepare us for delivery. Yoga might have set it off, but sitting most likely sets it off. Crossing the legs while sitting sets off mine.
Go see a chiropractor (a preg. friendly one- they have tables that the stomach part drops out) and see if they can help you.

Thank you so much!

Sciatica symptons are exactly what I have. I would have never found this on my own.

Thank you!

Agreed with what the other poster says. Its no fun. I'd take it easy on the pregnancy yoga for a while. i've found that I only get the sciatia when I'm actively doing exercise like yoga or leg lifts so I just ended up cutting it out and did straight walking instead.

I agree with the sciatica problem. Also, i know that blood clots can be a problem for pregnant women, so I would make sure that you are getting up and walking around every half hour or so at your job to keep the blood flowing! good luck. BTW, how far along are you?

Went to a Chiro last night.... He diagnosed it as Siatica. I will begin treatment 3 times a week for the next 4 weeks.

I went in this morning for my first treatment and it was wonderful!! He gave me a massage in my lower back and butt then popped my back by twisting me while laying on my side. It felt so good that it literally gave me a drunk feeling when I got up. I had to sit in my car and wait 5 minutes for the buzz to go away.

The best part is, is that VA Premeir (Medicaid) is paying for 100% of it!

I am 20 weeks and 6 days, I flip on Fridays.....

Thanks to all who posted their comments! I am truely thankful to God for this forum and you brillant ladies.

I love it when they adjust me too! It feels so good. I don't get much of a rubdown because his wife is the massage therapist at his practice. She charges by the 15 min, and my ins. only covers chiropractic care But it is just wonderful when I go. I didn't see long term results right away, and I was going 2x a week for a month, now I am down to once a week. I am generally feeling better now- don't get discouraged if you don't feel better right away. It takes time.
