I would google something like "north carolina state health insurance". Most states have an income based insurance program in which you pay anywhere from $0-$50 a month. Also, based on your income you could qualify for free state medical. Contact your local DSHS office.

I would see if you can get Medicaid... Find out what the eligibilty requirements are.

A friend of mine (we live in VA) has a great job working at the local hospital in admissions. They offer health coverage, but since she was pregnant when she was hired it was considered a pre-existing condition. So she qualifies for Medicaid.

Medicaid will not cost you a thing. There are no co-pays, no deductibles and you dont have to pay a percentage of the hospital bill.

All the ladies I know who have recently had a baby (last 3-5 years) that HAD health insurance ended up paying around $4000 - $5000, not includeing their monthly payments to the health insurance carriers each month.

I would go Medicaid 100%

It will take a few weeks to get your paper work submitted, but once you do there are other programs you will automatically qualify for like WIC and the Safe Link Free Cell Phone thing, ETC....

Good Luck,

P.S - I am on Medicaid and I have to see a chiropracter 3 times a week now for therapy and Medicaid pays 100% of it. If I had health insurance it would be costing me an arm and a leg..... or my lower back, haha

I would put of TTC until you secure some good insurance. If you get pregnant now, you will have to pay up front for your prenatal care up until you get insurance...and that's IF you can get it, considering you would be trying to get a policy while having a very expensive pre-existing "condition"!
