Default baby blues? missing pregnancy?

Hi.
I gave birth 2 weeks ago and i love my son to bits and wouldnt change anything! But for some reason i cant stop crying about missing being pregnant, i moaned so much through pregnancy and tried everything to induce myself (although nothing worked i had to be induced 13 days overdue at hospital) when i see pregnant women it makes me feel really sad, although im happy for them, i feel pathetic, im always crying i know it must be the baby blues but when will it stop? and will i always miss being pregnant like this? Or will that go away too? x

baby blues tend to have no meaning to them what so ever, take comfort in the fact i would cry over cereal ads or shopping trolleys at the supermarket lol it will pass sooner than you think i promise, if it doesnt then please speak to your doctor as baby blues can develop into post natal depression. congrats and good luck xxxx

Hi, don't worry, these feelings are all very normal.
You could feel fragile, sensitive and overwhelmed for quite some time yet, but it might help you to talk it over with your Midwife, I'm sure she'll be able to re-assure you!
Take care

I think you need to speak with your doctor about this.

It's kind of like women who mourn the loss of a pending wedding, once the wedding is over and they are married they occasionally suffer depression because the excitement and attention that was placed on them.

Now you have to learn that you are not the main focus of attention- not only that but you aren't even the focus of your own attention. Being a mother is a very selfless act and can take some time to get used to it.

If for any reason you feel resentful or angry at the baby seek help immediately. Tell your husband EXACTLY how you are feeling- it may help just to get it off your chest.

Congratulations on the birth of your little one!

You are going through a hormonal roller coaster that comes after delivery. It is completely normal, and usually does subside as your body returns to normal.

Here's a great link about 'baby blues' including information on how long they last. http://www.americanpregnancy.org/firstyearoflife/babyblues.htm

If you feel out of control or your symptoms have lasted longer than a couple of weeks, talk to your doctor about it. He or she may be able to suggest some ways to help you feel like yourself again and/or to cope with the feelings that you are having.

It is just your hormones. It will go away. Concentrate on your lovely baby and one day you'll have another one. Just look at the positives of not being pregnant, if you can, all that weight not having to be carried around any more, no sickness etc. It is strange at the mo because you've been pregnant for so long, but it will pass. Good luck, and try to get out a bit more if you can and enjoy your new baby.
