So I have had some pretty bad swelling in my feet, ankles, and face for the past three days. I had my dad check my blood pressure this morning and it was 130/88. I also had a bad headache all day. So I called the doctors office and they had me rush in to do a urine test and some blood tests. The urine test showed some protein in the urine. I dont know yet what the blood tests showed. The doc got called away to an emergency c-section so I wasnt told what they are looking for or what would happen if it is preeclampsia. So does anyone know what they will do if it is preeclampsia? I am 35 weeks. And what are they looking for in the blood tests?

They will check your liver and kidney function. If it's not too bad they'll probably put you on bedreast for while. If it's really bad they may deliver. Mine was pretty bad with my DS at 32 weeks and they were gonna try and keep me on bedrest for 4 weeks.

preeclampsia is only fixed by delivery depending on how sever they could induce or put you on bed rest. it will be ok tho, good luck

Yeah my doctor is stupid, im actually thinking of switching. I have the same symptoms and the nurse said come in to check your weight and blood pressure, then calls and says oh, well the doctor said you have a appt in a WEEK, just come then and we will check you out. I said what if it is Preclampsia, and she said no I dont think so, your only 33 weeks, and thats too early to get that. Bullshit it is, I know alot of people before 33 weeks that got it. Seriously they know nothing!! You should get on top of it, cause it can put you in the hospital. good luck.

They will most likely tried to manage your blood pressure and continue to have you do the 24 hour urine screens to check for more protein. You will probably be put on bedrest, but the only cure for pre-eclampsia is to deliver. I delivered at 35 weeks on the dot because my blood pressure wouldn't come down even on bedrest and my son was okay, only spending 9 days in the NICU. Good luck

My SIL had it with both of her pregnancies. She ended up getting Pre-E so bad that she ended up having seizures and her first son was born at 32 weeks and he was 3lbs and he was in the hospital for a month. She went in an appt with her 2nd pregnancy and she had her blood pressure taken and it was very high. So they sent her to the hospital for a 24 hour urine check. She had a significant amount of protein in her urine, so much that they transerferred her to a hosptial with a neo-natal unit so that she could deliver her baby. She ended up delivering him at 31 weeks. He was teeny tiny and was about 2lbs. He was there for about 2 months. These both are drastic things that happened to her, I guess that is why she isn't having any more kids.

well the doc called this morning and said that the blood tests came back fine. He said that the swelling in my face, feet, and ankles is a little troubling (they are huge) and we will check the blood again next week. he said to just take it easy for now. I get my cerclage out next friday so hopefully he will just decide to come then lol
