I had an OB appointment today and she told me that as of 38w I have the option to be checked weekly until birth-but it is entirely up to me.

So the question is, would you do the cervical check or just leave things alone?

(Btw I've had SPD for months now so any pressure on my pelvis sends me into major pain!)

I was going to decline mine at 38 weeks, but now with my sacrociliac joint pain she mentioned trying to sweep my membranes at 38 weeks if I am 2cm or more to get things moving. I'm debating based on how well I am managing my pain.

I think if things are normal I would decline it, it just makes you more anxious when you hear 2cm and 80% effaced and you still don't go into labor for 2-3 more weeks.

It's really up to you. If it makes you go into a lot of pain I understand that you don't want to get it done.

I would be super excited to know if i'm openning or not. Even if I was in pain I would be way too excited. Once I get there it might be different though.

In retrospect, I wish I hadn't gotten them done. I was 3cm and 90% effaced for 3 weeks and had to be induced @ 8 days late. Very discouraging. The next baby I'm not having it done. I'll probably have a repeat C Section anyways so it's moot, but that's my experience.

I was checked about 36w+. I would have declined it, had I not really needed the progress so badly.

I had spd pretty bad, but the cervical checks didn't bother it too bad. Its really your call.

But i got checked at my 39 and 40 week check up.. was sweeped at week 40 and 41

I don't see any harm on her checking your progress.. i guess it's a personal decision.

It's kinda uncomfortable though... the sweeping hurts like a b!tch but it only takes 5 seconds

It's up to you but its really pointless considering I walked around at a 2 for nearly a month before being induced. It can get you all hopeful and next visit you feel like oh yeah I'm still a 2, big fat whoop.

I started getting mine checked weekly at 28 weeks, by week 32 I was 2cm by week 35 I was 3cm, induced at 39 weeks.... I liked knowing it in the begining, because they ended up putting me on medicine to stop the contractions, but by week 34 I stopped taking my meds, got to 3cm and just paused until induction. lol I wish I refused checks then... sucked progressing soooo much and then just at a standstill...

but yeah, I have to be checked early for medical reasons, both my babies attempted to come out early, then I ended up having to be induced I will probably get early checks with this one for the same reasons, but I'm not going to get my hopes up this time lol...

I got checked at 36wks and I was 1 cm and 80% effaced. My water broke at 36w6d. I always wondered if that had anything to do with it. I will never know, but I kind of liked knowing where I was at!
