Default Re: Dog lovers!!

Ok....so my dog story. My husband and I got our first dog, a pitbull, about 6 months before we got married. We named him Rocky and he was the best dog I have ever had. I had a little mutt dog growing up, but it wasn't like she was mine. Rocky was all mine. He was incredibly special. Well, after a couple years we got Kaya so he would have a playmate. They got along great. She got him off the couch and made him play! Last summer we got our 2 female Patterdales since we decided we were going to breed that kind. So four dogs was quite hard. One night in Sept my husband was playing with Rocky. He was jumping up for a ball and landed weird. About a half hour later he couldn't walk. He lost the feeling in both his legs. We don't let our dogs in the bed with us, but that night we let him sleep with us. We kind of both knew deep down that was it. My husband had to work the next day, so I took off to be with him. I knew it would be my last day with him. My husband's best friend came over to help me with him. We got a vet appt at a time my husband could meet us. We found out he got a herniated disc that pierced his spinal cord. That explained why he didn't go to the bathroom all day, b/c the poor guy couldn't feel his bladder. The surgery would have been $12000 and there was still a chance he wouldn't walk again. Putting him to sleep was the hardest thing I have ever done. I am crying right now just writing this. I know I will never have another dog as special as Rocky. Ok....so hopefully I don't have you crying now. There is a silver lining. My husband, a member of several dog forums, put Rocky's story out there. A man from Florida who breeds pitbulls, offered us a free puppy. The day Toby arrived was a happy one. Two weeks after the loss of Rocky, I had my adorable Toby. Now he is not Rocky, but I still love him very much. That is how we ended up with 3 puppies. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to receive a free puppy. I had to share Rocky's story with you b/c I know you dog lovers will understand the love I had for him. I will always miss him.

my husband talked me into rescuing a greyhound about a month before we found out we were pregnant with the girls. His name is Cobb and he is the sweetest thing, needy for love and affection. Loves to play hide and seek and catch.
I am also worried tho about bringing the babies home with all the hair because even tho he has short hair , he sheds alot. part of me thinks had we known we were pregnant we wouldnt have gotten him but then i look at his poor little face and think that i could have never left him in that kennel.

we also have 5 dogs, fairly big ones too. a golden, an australian shepherd mix, and 3 lab mixes. we were a brady bunch family, i came in with 3 and dh came in with 2. they mostly get along except for the 2 big males, who rumble at each other CONSTANTLY and occasionally fight for real. but they are pretty evenly matched, so we usually just let them get it out of their systems and go on with our day. we also have 2 cats, who couldn't care less about the dogs and the (seemingly inferior) role they have in the house. they are all our babies though. not sure what will happen when the human babies start to show up, but i guess it will be a learning process!

I couldn't resist talking about my furry kids. I have 3 dogs. 2 boxers and 1 pomerian/chihuahua mix. My husband and I have fallen head over heels in love with the boxer breed. Their personalities, temperament, size, capability of love etc. Once we have the space and time we are going to breed boxers (not the ones we have now of course, they have been neutered)

So my first dog was the pomchi that I got with my ex boyfriend of 5 years. After he knocked him off of the back of the couch to the floor when Roman was 4 months old I broke it off (there had been some other issues with our relationship too)

My husband and I started dating, moved into an apartment together, then bought a house. Two months later we bought Dozer, a pure breed GORGEOUS boxer. He is my husband's baby through and through.

A year later we rescued Duo, our deaf white boxer because the breeder was going to put him down because of his disability. He the most loving little guy in the world.

So here is my crew with me. (I was 30 weeks pregnant at the time)

I love the white boxers. When our old man passes away we will probably get a 2nd dog (I can't imagine Sadie not having a brother or sister) and a white boxer is definitely on the list. There always seems to be one or two on the rescue website
