Default Car Accident

I got rear ended yesterday on my way home from work I was in a big truck and they were in a little car so I don't think it did any damage to me or the baby but it kinda freaked me out. And now I get to try and figure out what to do w/ the insurance company.....I'm so dreading this ordeal, it couldn't have come at a worse time...

Be sure the car seat gets replaced, the person's insurance that is responsible will pay for it.

He's still in my belly and we haven't installed the car seat yet so we're good on that. I just want a new bumper!

Ok here's a bit of an update. The only other time I've dealt w/ this situation I was 18 and my mom pretty much did it for me so I'm kinda confused. This insurance company (Liberty Mutual) gave me an over the phone estimate truck unseen yesterday.

So I have the estimate they emailed me and I'm supposed to take it to a shop to get it fixed based on this estimate. They are apparently already cutting me a check for this amount which I have no idea if it will cover it or not I'm willing to bet that it won't.

So if it doesn't cover the fee the shop has to communicate w/ the insurance company to get the rest of the amount.

Does that sound right?! When my mom did it before the insurance company had us go to a couple different shops in the area to get estimates and they gave us the money for the lowest estimate and we had it fixed and they provided us a rental car.

Oh that's another thing. It's the bumper as far as I know I don't think there's any other body damage but they've said that they will only provide $25/day for a rental car and in our area a rental car is $40-50/day.

Am I making a big deal out of nothing or does it seem like this is going to be a huge headache like I think it is.
