Well hello everyone... I'm new here. About 8 weeks along now. I thought this would be a nice way for me to talk about the things going on and relate to other Moms-to-be.
This is my first pregnancy -- however my DH Jim has two children from his previous marriage (Jacob, 7; and Johanna, soon to be 5) who live with us full-time. So even though this is my first, it's not really my "first" child. The only difference is that I actually get to carry this one and be the real #1 mom

)
I go for my first ultra sound on Friday the 29th -- then I'll have a better idea of exactly how far along I am!
The first few weeks have not been as bad as I thought they would be. I've been extremely exhausted all the time, and of course my boobs have tripled in size. At this point, the tenderness has gone away, which I am very happy about especially since Jim is infatuated with my new-found-bosoms (tmi? sorry)
I'm still exhausted, and this week began the (from what I've been told) LONG battle with heartburn. All the women in my family have had HORRENDOUS heartburn during their pregnancies -- they say it's because all the babies born into my family have full heads of hair and that causes heartburn. UGH.
The only thing that seems to soothe the heatburn is milk. I've drank about a gallon of milk in the last 2 days alone.
On another note... I'm not craving any junk food -- which I think is fantastic, 'cause I always seem to crave junk food when I'm PMSing, so I figured it'd be about the same. Nope! I crave Lettuce, Tomatoes, and Mayonaise -- yes in that combination.
I have to say that the aversions/cravings are quite interesting at this point. I hate chicken (used to love it). Cannot stand the thought of anything greasy (by-by bacon, eggs, pizza, sausage, etc). I love fresh veggies and fruit. If I have deli meats they have to be heated up -- if they're cold I get nauseas. Me and seafood salad have become pretty good friends -- as long as it's with lettuce and tomato of course. Oh and grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches have become my "comfort food" of choice.
Weird.
Anyways... this early on in my pregnancy I don't really have anything exciting to talk about. No baby kicking, etc etc... hell I don't even know if it's a he or a she. (We'll hopefully find out in October!!!). Once we sex the baby, I'll be having alot more fun -- picking out names, clothes, decorating the baby room, etc etc. Yay! I can't wait for the 2nd trimester!!!!!!
That's all I have for now... I'll probably have more to say after my ultra sound on friday
