Re: If I refuse tests such as blood tests in my prenatal care, can my OB
I, too am a Army spouse and I think there are a lot of things some of those who replied to this post do not understand about Military insurance, which is TriCare. First of all, you never stated if it was a civilian OB you were seeing to begin with. After all, not all bases, depending on what branch of the Military you are referring to are equipped to handle OB care from beginning to end so in that instance you would receive a referral from your Primary care manager. That's the only way you can go off base and still have TriCare cover it. Of course, the civilian OB has to also accept the insurance. By the way, TriCare will not cover a mid-wife as your primary care provider but they will if they work under a Doctor.
I have to say--the Military will not take your child! That's absolutely the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, to the poster who posted that comment. You have the right to choose which blood tests you want to have done. Though, there are some that are probably required even in the very "basic" of care. Regardless of you being Military, they are not going to make you have blood tests done without your approval. That's not the way it's done, anywhere. They're not going to just start sticking you with needles without telling you what it is they are testing for. In regards to the "3 times a week" why weren't you more involved in what they were testing you for and ask why it was you had to come in so often? Could it have been because they were squeezing you in between patients and didn't have time to test for everything at once? Or were they short handed on lab techs and had to have you keep coming back when one was available? There are a lot of unanswered questions here in regards to your situation.
