If she feels sick its so hard to even handle the smell of food. How about just some crackers? Maybe some light soup, a can of broth? Something very light, noy greasy at all. Maybe a light sandwhich. My mom says she couldnt stomach anything but crackers. It sux but it happens.

choose foods that don't have heavy odors as sometimes it's the odor that puts a pregnant woman off bevause her sense of smell is more sensitive. Try crackers, toast, broths, and tea to drink.

I know how that feels Im the same way, i dont seem to want anything thats in the house, but crave things that we get when we eat out. Weird I know... I'd say maybe go with pasta dishes , those always work for me. Good Luck

Re: Food Ideas, URGENTLY
I am in my 3rd pregnancy currently, and have had EXTREME morning sickness with all three. Toast with jelly sometimes worked, cereal, or pastas (without meat!) are what worked best for me. Also, decaffeinated sweet tea seems to help to sip on. I have found water to be rough on my stomach, and milk as well (although usually ok with cereal). This is just what works best for me.
I do want to urge you to do your best to get her to eat. It is very, very important. Especially if she is actually vomiting. I've found that if I eat immediately after throwing up it has a better chance of staying down.
My first pregnancy I was not able to keep anything down, lost weight initially and never gained a whole lot. I ended up having a premature delivery which could not be attributed to anything else.
Good luck, most women get better as the pregnancy progresses so maybe your wife will too. Glad to see a husband on here trying to help :-)

Re: Food Ideas, URGENTLY
I actually lost quite a bit of weight during my first trimester. It's very important that she takes her vitamins since she can't eat. Have her ask her doctor about prescribing Zofran. It's a Category B drug which means it's safe to take while pregnant. This worked wonders for me! I still have my moments where nothing appeals to me even in my 14th week. I often get my mind on something specific and that's the ONLY thing that I can eat. As long as she isn't underweight and continues to taking vitamins she should be OK. But don't take it too lightly, have her see a doctor to check everything out. Ginger Ale also allowed me to at least eat light. I would force a piece of bread. And for some reason cereal always went down well.

Talk to her about what may sound good and try simple meals that she can add to or take things away from (i.e. salads, tacos, sandwiches) And by the way, you wanting to help and asking the question is awesome! She's luck to have you.

Try some liquod food. Heavy solid food can put off the intrsted. Its better to concentrate on light and dry fruits and foods.

Re: Food Ideas, URGENTLY
If she can't keep enough down, try something like Carnation Instant Breakfast, or Boost, or even Pediasure, just to make sure she has something nutritious in her. It will at the very least keep her hydrated, get some viatmins and minerals into her, and make her feel full. I found that when I got sick and had nothing in me to feel full the less able I was to eat. I was more nauseus when I was hungry than full. Maybe if she can start by filling up on a drink she can then eat something small after a short while and get some real food into her too? And it makes it easier to stomach the prenatal vitamins too. Best of luck!

Re: Food Ideas, URGENTLY
I haven't really had TOO many problems with food, though lately the thought of food itself makes me sick. I seem to do well with things like carbs (french fries are good by me right now). Also, soda is what seems to be settling my stomach lately, though I've been trying to stick to the light sodas (sprite, ginger ale). Most fruits and veggies are working out for me, too.
