Default lack of hunger

I'll be 15 weeks on Friday and I was wondering if it was common at this stage for you to lack hunger so seriously that thinking about food makes you sick? I wasn't having this issue until the other day, but it's gotten to the point where I have to force myself to eat and a few hours after I take my pre-natals, I start dry heaving (because obviously my stomach is empty).

My doctor told me to take the pre-natals on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before eating or at least 2 after), which I have been, but sometimes they make me so sick that I throw it right back up and can't move. I tried taking them with some crackers, but I have the same issue.

Any ideas?

my hunger didn't set in until 19/20 weeks. i had to force myself to eat nearly all the time.

and it didn't matter when i took the prenatals, in the morning, at night, on an empty stomach, on a full stomach, they ALWAYS made me throw up.

the doctor said the folic acid in the pills may have been causing the reaction, so i quit taking them. the prenatals made me not want to eat. ever. i actually lost weight in my first trimester.

i take flintstones vitamins now with an extra calcium and iron supplement my midwife recommended instead. my midwife says it's very close to the same supplements in the prenatals.

maybe changing your prenatals will help with your hunger. it sure helped me!

Really? On the days I really feel horrible, I've just been skipping the prenatals all together and just making extra sure I'm gettings lots of vitamins/folic acid. Maybe I'll try your flinstone vitamins haha. And I'll eat extra cereal for folic acid or something.

Thanks.

I didnt experience this *much* but I know what you mean. I think its pretty common.

If prenatal make you sick, you can do what I've done &what others have suggested.... the whole time, I have been taking a Flintstones vitamin once a day... its pretty much the exact same thing as prenatals. I also take one Folic Acid Pill daily. you can buy a bottle of 365 pills for fairly cheap!

Are you serious? I take mine with food every day! Wow. Try to eat things that calm your stomach like crackers and milk if you can stand it and maybe take the vitamin with milk. It should go away, though. Very few women, I think, are naseous through the whole thing. I am at 32 weeks and eat anything and everything.

What about fruit? I always had good luck with that and it's good for you. Keeps you hydrated, too.

I actually can't drink milk. My sister has a dairy allergy (not lactose, dairy), so we didn't drink it as kids and my stomach can't digest it properly now.

I've decided to just go with the flintstone vitamins and extra calcium/iron. Thanks for the suggestions!
