Post Prenatal Vitamin (Folic Acid)

Ok so I made an appointment with my Obgyn but they won't see me until Feb 8 (when I'm exactly 8 weeks along.) & I had my doctor tell me my prenatal vitamin didn't have enough Folic Acid but it has 800 mcg...and every other one I looked at today has the same amount..How much did your doctor tell you to take or how much should i be taking?

Oh also wanted to ask what kind of foods are the best to eat when pregnant? I have to admit I do not the way I should..too much junk food...I give my 3 year old healthy meals but I somehow avoid them

And when I was pregnant my dr said liver is really good for pregnant ppl...

I ate whatever I wanted basically, but I just mixed the vegetables in with it.

Yea..it definitely doesn't sound too tasty..but if it's really good for me I guess it could be worth a try.. I love vegetables though !! & Fruits..I have actually been craving fruit which is odd..I might have to buy more soon because I'm running low !

I believe 800 mcg of folic acid is what is recommended during pregnancy. You also don't want to take too much of certain vitamins if you are taking a multivitamin.
My prenatals have 800 mcg....your doctor may have misunderstood. (Believe me, doctors make mistakes!)
I would discuss it with him at the next visit, but 800 mcgs should be plenty.

Id say eat fruit especially if you like it and try to incorporate veggies into your meals. Also Oj has a lot of folic acid just make sure its 100% juice. Other than that, just eat what you want (within moderation). If you can stomach it - then eat it...my dr told me bad calories are better then no calories...when I told him all I wanted was McDonald's Chicken Nuggets lol

Don't worry too much about food - Im pretty sure my child is going to come out with a lollipop in his mouth!!

I ate pretty much what I wanted with my daughter..but I ended up gaining too much It was still weird to me considering I did eat more but not that much more..I didn't have m/s with her either tho..So this is definitely different for me..

I love fruit & veggies tho so that will be no problem..The only thing i have had trouble with is mcd's..I guess thats a sign
