Unhappy Frustressed

Hey All!
Frustressed is basically my way of saying I'm so stressed its frustrating and I'm so frustrated I'm stressing!

So...

Brand new member here...and brand new to the world of parenthood...uck I don't even like saying that word because I'm not ready for it yet!

I don't know for sure I am pregnant but I suspect it because I was off patch and had unprotected sex on Sunday July 27th. My period stopped on July 20th and I should've put patch on that Tuesday but I neglected to and let close to a week go by...I put patch on five hours after unprotected sex....so I'm pretty sure that i'm pregnant now. I really don't know if having a patch on these past four days will cause any harm to the baby , if I do have one.

My major concern is the economy. I'm worried John McCaine will become president and we'll in turn be trapped in a bad economy with little to no jobs. My boyfriend is unemployed, he gets a few freelance gigs here and there as graphic designer. But nothing ever flows, its been really slow and stressing. I work for $10 an hour at a stationary place and there are no alternatives at the moment. So I make an average of $600 every two weeks. I can hardly afford to pay for my own expenses.

I would really really like a child though and I have been warming up to the idea. Especially since my mom gave birth to me at age 22 and my grandmom was 20 when she had my mom.

I am just terribly stressed there will be no funding for my kid, there will be no room to raise a kid, me and my boyfriend share an attic room in a house with three other renters. Eventually we planned to take over and rent entire house...but how the hell is that possible with a $10 / hour paycheck coming to me and hardly anything going to my boyfriend!?

I am 22 years old, a college graduate as of Dec 07, associates degree. I should be earning more than $10 an hour. Hell, 20 something years ago my mom was 19 years old and bought her own friggin house!!! I can't even pay $237 for the rent this month because of the weak paychecks and bills ..........

I don't know how to make money fast...do you know if there are any charities that fund mothers in need ? I don't know!!! But I really need to find out in order to make this work !!!

Kyle Elizabeth

Well there is a good chance that you weren't even ovulating at the time you had unprotected sex. I'm not sure what day your period started but if you count 14 days from that day then that would most likely be around the time that you would be ovulating if your cycles are regular.

I wouldn't worry too much about it then. You most likely were not ovulating at the time you had unprotected sex if it was only 11 days after your period started.

I would be really surprised if you were pregnant. Having been on the patch and bc in general since I was 14 (I'm 28 now!) I highly doubt delaying the patch application a week would make you ovulate and become pregnant after one instance of intercourse.

The odds of getting pregnant with a month of TRYING to get pregnant are something like 25%, that means 75% who are actually trying to have a baby DONT get pregnant. Add to that the hormones in your body from the patch and the odds of you being pregnant are very very slim.

Personally, I had sex with my bf for 5 months using only withdrawl (we were fine if I got pg) and didn't get pregnant. And yes, we were very active in the bedroom dept!

You COULD be pregnant but i do doubt it. Are you late for your period? If so i say take a pregnancy test to find out for sure, you might be worrying for nothing. And i would not worry about who becomes president, no matter who wins, the ecomony is not going to just magically become better. It just doesnt work that way. I am pregnant right now i am i worry everyday about how we will pay for all of the baby expenses. I only make 8.75 and hour and i live in california where rents in small apartments are around 1,000.00 a month!!!
Anyway if you are pregnant i suggest you get your b/f to get a regular job fast. Good luck.

The spotting could be from a number of things....I have random spotting at times sometimes from sex, really anything that can irritate your cervix, but sometimes I have it for no reason at all...but it's never been a reason for me to think I'm pg.

The other thing is that now you've got it in your head that you're pg you are going to LOOK for symptoms. It's called "observation bias" in the world of psychology. You've probably had pain in both breasts before, but you weren't anticipating it, so you didn't notice. You will probably think that your sense of smell has gotten stronger, but really....you're just noticing smells that have always been there. Women who really are pregnant can even make their symptoms seem worse because they are expecting and looking for them.

Unfortunately HPTs aren't considered fully reliable until AFTER you've missed your period, but once you are a day late it should be completely accurate.
