Is this correct that the only reason you are considering terminating is because you feel you will be "too old" when your child graduates?

I am in my 30s and having my first child. The only thing I was concerned about with my age was the risk of down syndrome. It was worrysome but I decided not to have the amnio because of risk of miscarriage but when I went to the dr. to check on fetal development, everything was fine.

The only considerations, as for risk of down syndrome, is that after the age of 35 the risk goes up more AND if the father is over 45 there could be a lot of complications with the baby.

Thirty-six isn't very old. Women well into their forties have healthy babies all the time. It's mostly about how well you take care of yourself while you're pregnant.

And as far as terminating the pregnancy: My sister considered terminating her pregnancy. She was young, and unmarried, and living with our parents. Without going into detail, I'll just say it was not a good situation. But now, five years later, every time she looks at her daughter, she can't imagine how she ever considered such a thing. She is so glad she didn't do it.

I am 34 and pregnant with my first child. It's not my first pregnancy though and I only hope this one makes it the entire term.
If you decide on abortion, that's your decision. However, maybe you should consider adoption. It will give you time to seriously think about whether or not keeping the baby is right for you and your husband. If, within that time, you decide you cannot or do not want to keep the child, there are families out there who are unable to have children of their own that would be happy to take yours into their homes.

You are not to old at all! My husbands step-mom is 35 and pregnant- due in 3 weeks. His dad is 48. The babies keep them young.

I am 40 years and pregnant with twins (without trying, I might add). My partner is 45 and these are his first biological children. My eldest child will be 40 years old when the twins graduate from high school. Who cares how old we'll be when they graduate? The main thing is that they come into the world loved and are taken care of.
